If you would like to commission a pet portrait, it can be a little daunting, however the process is very straightforward. Please get in touch by email to discuss any questions you may have and how you might want the portrait to look. You may find it useful to look at the gallery to see whether you would like a pencil, pastel or coloured pencil drawing first. Photographs need to be high resolution to provide clear detail of your beautiful pet.
Each portrait takes up to two weeks depending upon the size of the drawing and whether it’s a full body, head and shoulders only or more than one figure. Coloured pencil also takes longer due to the blending and layering process. If you would like me to arrange framing that would take a further two weeks.
Please send me digital photos of the subject or subjects. Ideally a digital camera is best but many good quality phones take very good high-resolution photos which can be used for the portrait. Several close-up images help me to build up a good picture of the subject. It’s important to take the photo in natural daylight but not bright sunlight, and at the same level as your pet. It may take several conversations or emails to choose the final image but it’s well worth it. Once the composition is finalised, I will forward the order for you to check the portrait information. I ask for a 50% deposit (non-refundable unless an unlikely event means I'm unable to do your artwork) at this point. The portrait will then begin on the agreed start date and the remaining balance is paid following step 3.
I will send you work in progress updates via email. Once I’m happy with the completed portrait, I will photograph it and email it to you to ensure you're happy. If you would like to make any comments or suggest slight adjustments, I can incorporate them at this stage. I'll send a final photo to ensure you're completely satisfied with the portrait. Once the remaining balance has been paid, I'll sign the portrait and send it (unframed) to you via Royal Mail.
Payment can be made via Paypal or internet bank transfer. Payment plans are available, please email me to discuss further.

If you would like me to arrange framing for you, I use a bespoke online framing service, and I can send you three no obligation quotes in a range of styles and prices. I use Tru Vue Ultra Vue glass to protect the artwork and greatly reduce the reflectivity for easy viewing. The quote for framing includes chosen bespoke frame, a double mount, backing, fixings, Tru Vue Ultra Vue Glass, £10 framing charge and delivery charges from the suppliers to me. I ask for the framing invoice to be paid when the frame is ordered.
Portraits are sent fully tracked via Royal Mail Special Delivery or Parcelforce (depending on size/weight) to addresses in the UK. If the item is framed insurance will only cover loss not damage due to glass regulations. If the portrait is unframed then it is fully insured for both loss and damage. A quote will be provided.
If you live within a 15 mile radius of my studio, I can hand-deliver free-of-charge or you are welcome to collect.
For addresses outside the UK, a shipping price will be quoted based on location.
As the artist, I own the copyright of the artwork and reserve the right to reproduce the artworks for prints, marketing purposes or other products.
